Gand Father's violin, ex-Thibaud
This instrument we present is a great example of Charles François Gand's work (1787 – 1845). The quality of the violin making is particularly remarkable and he is in an excellent state of conservation. It notably belonged to the french violinist Jacques Thibaud.
Charles François Gand was born in Versailles, he was the son and the student of Charles Michel Gand. He worked from 1802 to 1810 with Nicolas Lupot whose he took the workshop in 1824. His instruments renowned for the richness of their sounds, are also distinguished for the exceptional quality of their craftsmanship.
